At Home in Duluth – Creating Neighborhoods That Work

At Home in Duluth - Creating Neighborhoods That Work is spearheading Duluth's Sustainable Community initiative. Facilitated by Duluth LISC, it includes 24 diverse organizations, most of which have been working together on affordable housing, blight removal, streetscape improvements, storefront renovations, and other neighborhood issues for more than eight years.

Building a Sustainable Community

A sustainable community is a good place to live, conduct business, work, and raise families. It begins with healthy, vibrant neighborhoods.

Duluth is one of the 10 demonstration sites for National LISC’s Sustainable Communities initiative. This distinction has brought financial resources and technical assistance to help Duluth LISC and its At Home in Duluth – Creating Neighborhoods That Work collaborative implement a unique, comprehensive community development strategy.

The approach focuses on five core neighborhoods and what they need to succeed. It challenges residents, business, public partners, and grassroots organizations to step forward, take ownership, and work together for a strong sustainable future. It helps neighbors build communities.

Neighborhoods

Work is underway in five core neighborhoods: Central Hillside, East Hillside, Lincoln Park, Morgan Park, and West Duluth, with the following goals in mind:
