Building a Sustainable Community
A sustainable community is a good place to live, conduct business, work, and raise families. It begins with healthy, vibrant neighborhoods.

Duluth is one of 10 demonstration sites for National LISC’s Sustainable Communities initiative. This distinction has brought financial resources and technical assistance to help Duluth LISC implement a unique, comprehensive community development strategy.

The approach focuses on five core neighborhoods and what they need to succeed. It challenges residents, businesses, public partners, and grassroots organizations to step forward, take ownership, and work together for a strong sustainable future.

It helps neighbors build communities.

Neighborhoods: Goals:
Central Hillside 1. Developing, preserving, and investing in housing and real estate
East Hillside 2. Increasing family income and wealth
Lincoln Park 3. Stimulating economic activity, locally and regionally
Morgan Park 4. Improving access to quality education
West Duluth 5. Fostering livable, safe, and healthy environments
