  • American Indian Community Housing Organization—$50,000 increase to assist with the Gimaajii Mino Bimaadiziyann project, which will create 29 units of permanent supportive housing.
Capacity Building and Internship Grants $40,750
  • Center City Housing Corp. (CCHC)—$6,000 to develop a Web site, attend green development and Tax Credit 201 training, and real estate asset management.
  • Churches United in Ministry (CHUM)—$5,050 for development of strategic plan and outreach coordinators to attend community-organizing training.
  • Community Action Duluth—$4,000 for staff training on board governance, fund development assistance, and partnership development.
  • Lincoln Park Business Group (LPBG)—$2,600 for intern to help market and secure sponsors for the Mountain Bike Race and Festival and Lincoln Park Walleye Opener, preliminary development of a pedestrian and bike corridor, and preliminary connections to the Willard Munger and Lakewalk trails; $6,500 for a board manual and newsletters, hiring of a strategic planning consultant, training, computer purchase, and Web updates.
  • Neighborhood Housing Services of Duluth (NHS Duluth)—$6,000 for marketing materials, training and development, and loan software upgrades. NHS Duluth—$2,600 for intern to perform communications and help implement At Home in Duluth neighborhood revitalization plans for East Hillside, Central Hillside, Lincoln Park, and Morgan Park.
  • Spirit Valley Citizens’ Neighborhood Development Association (SVCNDA)—$8,000 to assist with strategic planning, financial
  • management, marketing consultation, grant writing training, and purchase of computer equipment.
Income and Asset Building and Educational Initiatives: $121,298
  • Minnesota Teen Challenge Northland Campus—$44,000, over three years, to help eight (8) residential program graduates find viable employment through Duluth At Work.
  • NHS Duluth—$17,298 to assist with At Home in Duluth service learning at Morgan Park Middle School.
  • Northeast Entrepreneur Fund—$60,000, over three years, for CREATE program, which will help eight (8) local artists develop viable businesses through Duluth At Work.
Operating Support Grants: $114,832
  • CCHC—$15,000 to help rehabilitate the 39-unit Memorial Park Apartments; preliminary predevelopment of supportive housing for either homeless youth or ex-offender reentry; completion of a strategic plan and continued involvement in At Home in Duluth.
  • CHUM—$16,000 to assist with hiring a neighborhood outreach coordinator and continued involvement in At Home in Duluth.
  • LPBG—$12,500 to implement business district and economic development aspects of the At Home in Duluth Lincoln Park neighborhood revitalization plan.
  • NHS Duluth—$32,500 for coordination of At Home in Duluth and implementation of neighborhood revitalization plans in East Hillside, Central Hillside, Lincoln Park, and Morgan Park.
  • Northern Communities Land Trust—$20,000 to assist with salary/fringe for executive director, assistant director, and housing development director.
  • SVCNDA—$18,832 for coordination of At Home in Duluth in West Duluth and implementation of the neighborhood’s revitalization plan.
